As the proud owner of D'Xochi, I am also the ambassador of the exquisite craftsmanship of Mexican textile and embroidery artisans.
D'Xochi was born out of the admiration I have for the embroidery work of an indigenous woman of Oaxaca. She had gifted me with this amazing tapestry that she crafted just for me, and that I used to re-upholster the chairs in the dining room. I did not only receive compliments for the design and the beautiful embroidery, but I was encouraged to capitalize the idea of re-purposing furniture using all the embroidery material that she had given me and that I had accumulated from my trips to Mexico. It has been a blessing to have this humble and skillful woman in my life. Her name is Julia, and I will share her story in the next chapter, so . . . stay tuned.
